Are you an exhibit designer?
Not sure if you are making the most of Vectorworks?
INTRODUCTION
We understand the challenge. Some designers are more comfortable with the initial simplicity of SketchUp, others prefer the accuracy and speed of AutoCad, and a few boldly venture into the world of Rhino 3D or Maya or 3DS Max, or come from an architecture background and swear by REVIT. Yes, there are a lot of great software tools out there and we all have a tendency to want to stick to the tools and the pathways we know. But there are so many efficiencies to be gained by getting everyone on your team to collaborate within the same software on a central design document / model and not suffer the friction and frustration that occurs when exporting and importing across various software titles.
Navigating the intricate world of museum exhibition design can be both exhilarating and daunting. From conceptualizing immersive experiences to ensuring every detail aligns seamlessly with the curator's vision, the journey is nothing short of a creative odyssey.
But here's the thing – we get it. We understand the exhilarating highs and the frustrating lows that come with the territory. We've been there too, for decades, working in design teams grappling with the same challenges, striving to strike the delicate balance between creativity and practicality, ‘herding the cats’ toward a deadline, while honoring and managing valuable contributions of bright designers and skilled planners.
That's why we're excited to introduce you to a game-changing coaching program that's set to revolutionize your design and planning workflows in a team environment with Vectorworks Software. Imagine a world where your collective creative vision seamlessly translates into awe inspiring emotionally moving immersive curated experiences; while built upon an internal structure of precise, meticulously crafted designs, plans, and fabrication drawings.
At every installation from here forward your team will stand together cool and confident knowing that every artifact has its place, every detailed description will be documented and archived, every display piece and casework will fit through the door, and every component of your exhibition will snap together with ease. You will pat each other on the back knowing you could take this show on the road, if you want to. Upon completing Museum Exhibition Design with Vectorworks, that world of possibility quickly becomes your reality.
This isn't just about choosing the right software – it's about empowerment. It's about coaching you and your team to confidently wield the software tools to craft your boldest ideas and seamlessly bring them to life. GETTY UP!
This is the only coaching program specifically tailored for Museum Exhibition Design with Vectorworks. It’s so valuable, The Getty Design Studio have enrolled their ever-evolving team TWICE!
The curriculum began as a solution for the Getty Design Studio back in 2021. A collaborative team of 13 designers, at that time, the Getty team approached Tangably because they needed a more thorough and engaging solution for training their whole exhibition design team. Their team had already attended in-person training offered by Vectorworks in Columbia, MD but they were still struggling to apply what they had learned to their real-world every day challenges in designing exhibits for The Getty Center and the Getty Villa in Los Angeles. Like many design teams even today, they were stuck in a mostly 2D world knowing that there were better ways to make use of their 3D dimensional galleries and design ambitions.

HEY, I'M JAKE!
Since 2001 I have coached creative teams on best practices with Vectorworks design software.
You might be thinking, Why did people sign his suit coat? Simply put, each of you creatives are a celebrity to me and I want to be your biggest fan. Working to support and empower creative teams over the years has been an honor without parallel. I am overjoyed to continually meet creative individuals and coach them in their digital workflows.
When I finally started attending conferences again post-pandemic I was looking for a way to break the ice and approach new friends. I started to carry with me a handful of Sharpies and encourage new and old connections to take a moment and leave their mark on my coat. The effect has been socially magnetic! Over multi-day conferences people recognize the live tapestry unfolding and are compelled to say hello and participate in the co-creation. It's great fun and now I have a growing collection of unique attire that instantly transport me back to the memories we made together at conferences and special events in recent years.
That being said, I plan to participate in AAM Conference 2025 in Los Angeles, May 6-9. I can't wait to create some new memories there with you! Will you join us?
But why me? For more than two decades I have worked in architecture, entertainment, fabrication, and construction. The through-line all these years is, I have been wielding the Vectorworks Design Suite sword (so to speak) to slash through production barriers and reduce friction in the design and planning process with designers, planners, fabricators, and assembly crews around the world. In 2013 I created Tangably, Inc. as a consultancy to support design teams using Vectorworks in their daily workflows. It's been a true honor and a constant adventure working with the myriad of creative and dedicated professionals.
And now Museums... A few years back I began to discover the inspiring world of museum and cultural exhibition design by initially consulting with the Getty Design Studio. I am continually uncovering and teaching new depths of opportunity to apply the tools in Vectorworks as a force-multiplier for teams creating tangible real-world experiences. I welcome the opportunity to learn more about what you and your team create.
